General Studies Diploma
Program Overview
The General Studies Diploma (GSD) program at United Pacific College (UPC) equips students with essential education and job skills needed to enter the workforce. This program provides a comprehensive curriculum that includes fundamental business knowledge. Upon successful completion, students will receive a Diploma in General Studies.
Accreditation: This program is approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education Skills & Training.
Target Audience
The GSD program is suitable for:
- High school graduates or individuals aged 19 and over
- Students meeting the English proficiency requirements:
- TOEFL score of 500 (or IBT 61), IELTS score of 6, or passing an in-house English test with a score of 500
- Four years of full-time education in English in Canada or another country
Program Duration
- Total Hours: 1440
- Full-Time: 72 weeks
- Part-Time: 106 weeks
Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the program will be able to:

Learning Resources
Students will use textbooks, real-life case studies, online information, and videos. Detailed resources are provided in each course syllabus. Classes are offered through in-class instruction, distance/online learning, or a combination of both.
Assessment and Grading
Students’ performance will be evaluated through exams, case studies, term projects, presentations, and participation. The general marking scheme is as follows:
- Class Attendance: 5%
- Assignments: 10%
- Exams: 60%
- Presentations, Participation, Term Projects: 25%
Graduation Requirements
To graduate, students must:
Achieve a grade of “C” or higher in all courses.
Obtain an official TOEFL score of IBT61 or above.
Successfully complete all 10 courses to earn the ESL Diploma from UPC.
