Program Overview

The English as a Second Language (ESL) Diploma program at United Pacific College (UPC) is tailored for non-native English speakers aiming to improve their proficiency in English. This comprehensive program focuses on developing essential language skills including listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and cultural understanding.

Accreditation: This program is recognized by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education Skills & Training, although it has not been reviewed by PTIB.

NOC code : 1411 – General office support workers, and clerical services

Target Audience

The ESL program is ideal for students with:

  • A TOEFL score below IBT61
  • An IELTS score below 5
  • Equivalent language proficiency levels

Program Duration

The program spans 6 months, providing intensive training and practice to ensure significant language improvement.

Assessment and Grading

Students’ performance will be evaluated through assignments, quizzes, reports, presentations, and exams. The grading scheme is as follows:

  • Homework Assignments: 10%
  • Quizzes: 10%
  • Reports: 10%
  • Presentations: 10%
  • Major Exams (two per class): 20% each
